About kinesiology
Kinesiology is where Western techniques combine with Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional and spiritual health and wellbeing. It is a holistic approach which allows a deep and thorough understanding of what is happening in your life and your body to create imbalance. It draws on many gentle yet powerful techniques to restore balance. Test it out for yourself, see what you can discover.. click here for my introductory offer.
The word Kinesiology literally defined, is derived from the Greek "kinesis" (motion) + the suffix -ology or -logy from the greek "logos" or "logia"(meaning a field of study).
The Art and Science of Kinesiology began in 1964, when Dr. George Goodheart of Detroit, USA began evaluating his patients using manual muscle testing. He discovered that his patient's muscles were testing weak for no apparent cause. Through clinical studies and much research it was found that muscles testing, 'weak' and 'strong' or 'locking' and 'unlocking', was not dependant on the muscles themselves, but on how the nervous system was controlling these muscles.
Our nervous systems are exposed to an ever-changing internal and external environment, constantly responding to our thoughts, feelings and perceptions that in turn affect our physical bodies. Kinesiology is a tool which allows us to detect which factors in our environment are causing stress and precisely where we have stored it in our body and what is needed to remedy it.
Since Dr. George Goodheart's discovery, many others have gone on to research exactly how this muscle testing can be used and taken it to many new levels. Today we are able to use it for a wide range of possibilities. Dr Bruce and Joan Dewe were the founders of the International College of Professional Kinesiology Practise - www.icpkp.com. Together they wrote the Internationally recognised Advanced Diploma-based training in Kinesiology. The diploma is being taught in 20 countries around the world and translated into 8 languages.
Dr. David Hawkins has also been innovative with Kinesiology research, looking into mapping the human consciousness and using muscle testing to do so. He looks at different levels of consciousness and transcending them.
In New Zealand, Kinesiology is defined primarily as the use of muscle testing to identify imbalances in the body's structural, chemical, emotional or other energy, to establish the body's priority healing needs, and to evaluate energy changes brought about by a broad spectrum of both manual and non manual therapeutic procedures.
About me and my motivations
I have been working in the health care industry for over 10 years and using muscle testing since 2004. My passion in life is to assist and facilitate people on their individual journey, and to assist those searching for inner peace, their truth and a deeper understanding.
Simply by gaining an awareness of the specific factors which are impacting your life or the triggering stressors, you will have the ability to change your life. Kinesiology brings about tremendous insight into the 'whys and how's' and the 'what' which is bringing you away from a state of balance.
"Be the change you want to see in the world" - Gandhi
The interesting part about making changes and improvements to ourselves is that it has an effect on everything and everyone around us. Have you ever noticed that when your attitude changes about a person's behaviour, they seem to just stop displaying it? In finding clarity on who we are and how we feel, we get to watch the world around us change.
Altering your consciousness, will, in turn make a difference to all the lives you come into contact with, creating a ripple effect. This is how we can make a difference to not one person, but many people. The ripples continue on much further and much deeper than the eyes can see.
Soygal Rinpoche has an interesting way of describing the current state of our world in his book, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. He calls it 'active laziness', where in the Eastern world, laziness consists of hanging out all day in the sun, doing nothing, avoiding any type of useful activity or work, drinking tea and gossiping with friends. Whereas the Western laziness is almost opposite, consisting of cramming so much into our lives that we have no time to confront any real issues.
It is when we slow down; we begin to truly know our selves, our limitations and our fears. Modern society seems to provide many things to lead us away and distract us from our truth. It is up to us to become mindful of this and take action.
